This week there was an Apple Special Event. Today we’ll be looking at what was announced and when they are going to be released. Note: All prices are in USD.
Apple Watch Series 6
The first thing that was released was the Apple Watch Series Six.
One of the main features that were added to Series 6 was the Blood Oxygen Sensor.
This allows you to check the percent of oxygen in your blood at any time or place.
It still includes the Always-On Display and includes Apple’s New S6 Processor. Ths S6 is based on the A13 Chip that is included in the iPhone 11.
They also introduced new colors for the Apple Watch. Now you can get a (PRODUCT)RED and blue aluminum cased watch. The standard colors that you could purchase before are still available. The Series 6 started shipping on September 18th.
The 40 MM GPS Version Starts at $399 and the GPS + Cellular Starts at $499
Apple Watch SE
The Apple Watch SE was also released. It has the same concept as the iPhone SE. It is a way for people to enter the Apple Ecosystem without committing to the most expensive option.
It has the same display as the Apple Watch Series 6 (Minus the always-on feature), It includes all the newly announced watch faces and includes the S5 Processer. One of the caveats of this watch is that there is not Blood O2 Sensor to help reduce the cost. This watch also began shipping on the 18th.
The iPad Air is probably one of the most changed devices for this year.
The 2020 iPad air includes a flat edge all-screen display. This gen of iPad Air looks a lot like the iPad Pro. This year the home button was removed.
The display is Apple’s Liquid Retina Display. It measures about 10.9 in. Across. This iPad now includes the True Tone Display Technology.
Since Apple removed the home button on this iPad the Touch ID Sensor is now on the power button.
This is the first Apple Tablet to include a fingerprint sensor on a side button.
This iPad also includes Apple’s new A14 Bionic Chip.
It comes in five gorgeous finishes: Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue.
This iPad includes a USB-C port which will make data transfer and charging faster than ever before.
It works with the Magic Keyboard (yes, the floating one) and The Apple Pencil. It also includes the magnetic mount for the Apple Pencil. This iPad will be available to ship sometime next month.
The 64 GB Wifi Model starts at $599 and the 256 FB Wifi Model Starts at $749. (The price increase for the LTE model is $130)
Not to be confused with Google One, Apple released a new subscription service called Apple One.
The Individual Subscription for $14.95/mo includes the following apps:
- Apple Music
- Apple TV+
- Apple Arcade
- 50 GB of iCloud Storage
The Family Plan for 19.95/mo includes all of the same services above except it includes 200 GB of iCloud Storage. You can share these benefits with 5 other people.
The 3rd and Final Plan is the Premier Plan for $29.95/mo. This plan includes the same benefits as the individual plan except it has an added 2 TB of iCloud Storage AND Apple Fitness+ (See next heading) you can also share this plan with 5 other people.
Mentioned in the last section, Apple is releasing another new subscription service called Apple Fitness+.
This service can be used on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
It connects to your Apple Watch to collect Metrics such as Heart Rate, Calories Burned, Miles, and a Timer. Your rings will also be displayed on the screen.
Apple says that Apple Fitness+ will be released in late 2020. You can sign up for an email notification when this is available on their website.
Now since this is a subscription service there is a cost. You can start a free trial for one month or get 3 months free when buying a new apple watch. You can pay monthly for $9.99/mo or you can opt for the annual payment of $79.99/yr.
The final thing that Apple released was the iPad Eighth Generation.
This iPad includes the A12 Bionic Chip which Apple claims will increase the CPU performance and Graphic performance 40 percent.
The display measures 10.2 In. Across. This iPad is not compatible with the floating magic keyboard but it is compatible with the smart keyboard and the Apple Pencil Gen 1.
This iPad does not use the same display or Touch ID technology that the iPad Air Includes. It also does not include the same colors that the iPad Air includes.
You can purchase this iPad in a 32 GB or 128 GB model.
The 32 GB Wifi Model Starts at $329 and the 128 GB Wifi Model Starts at $429.
